Being a mom!

So the last post was about Camille, now a little about mom for the record books! Some things I have learned being a mom so far:
  • The first two words that came to my mind after giving birth were: 1) WOW and 2) OUCH!
  • I thought I knew how to take care of babies from my years of babysitting, but there are so many little things I didn't know like how to swaddle!
  • Laundry increases by at LEAST 3 times. Not sure how that happens when baby clothes are so tiny!
  • Thank heavens for a fabulous mother who teaches her daughter everything she knows about being a mom!
  • I now know a little what it feels like to be an amputee. It isn't as easy as it looks to make dinner with one hand while holding your baby with the other!
  • Sweet smiles in the morning from your baby make the worst nights worth every second of lost sleep!
  • Some things come instinctively, others come through great advice from friends and family
  • I think all of my clothes will permanently have spitup stains
  • If I thought time dragged on the last few weeks of being pregnant, it makes up for it by FLYING by once your baby is born! I can't believe Camille has been in our lives for 2 months now!
  • Each child is different, and no matter how your baby acts, it doesn't mean they will be like that forever. Some of the sweetest people I know said they were really fussy babies. That makes me feel much better :)
  • Blogs are much easier to keep up with a cute kid to post pictures of!
  • Plan at least an hour longer than you think it will take you to get out the door for church etc.
I could go on and on with all of the great knowledge I've learned so far. I am getting the hang of things, and loving every second of this new learning and growing I get to do. Being a mom is great, and I am so grateful for such a sweet, special little spirit in my life.
