Have you ever gotten a "twin" egg? While I was baking something the other day I came across one (on the right) with 2 yolks in one eggshell. Growing up we had chickens and we frequently got these twinner eggs from them. This is the first time I have found one in store-bought eggs. Has anyone else ever gotten one? Not sure why there would be such a difference from home-grown to store-bought.
I just uploaded 357 photos from our FABULOUS end of the semester break. I will share some soon!

because we used to chase the chickens around the yard and their insides got confused!
I might be wrong about this, but I believe that the companies that supply the grocery stores with eggs try to filter out the two-yolk eggs for other uses. The system isn't perfect, and you'll sometimes see it in store-bought eggs. The size sorting likely makes a difference too. When you have home-grown eggs there is much more variability in the size of egg you get, and thus a better chance of getting such an egg.
I'm sure that's more than you wanted to think about, but that is my answer...
