Packwood Lake

We took the kids on their first backpacking trip in June.  We were a little nervous to take such little kids, especially since they couldn't carry much.  Nick carried most of our gear, and I carried Winslow and some of the rest of our gear.  The girls were able to carry their water and clothes.  The trip turned out to be a success, we all had a wonderful time.

Packwood Lake is near white pass at the foothills of Mt Raineer so it was heavily forested and gorgeous of course.

The day before we left, Camille tripped and fell flat on her face in the kitchen. She had been coloring, so I didn't think much of the dark mark on her upper lip (she gets marker on her face from time to time).  That night she had a bath and realized it was a fat bruise!  I felt bad I didn't give her more sympathy at the time.  My graceful child. :)

Made it to the lake!  The hike was just shy of 4 miles.  Camille hiked whole way, and E hiked about half of the way. Nick carried E sometimes on top of his 45 lb pack, I was impressed!

W hanging out in the tent while we got things ready for bed.

We went with my brother and 2 other families.

I about died when they grabbed each other's hands and started hiking!
