Baby Hazel

Hazel was born on Veteran's Day, 11/11.

Each of our children's births have been so different so I didn't know what to expect.  Her due date was 11/14 so she came a few days early.  We headed in to the hospital that morning around 9am.  I wasn't very far in my labor yet, but I needed to be admitted early for an antibiotic.

I decided to go without anesthesia.  As I breathed through each contraction, they got more intense but still bearable.  My water broke around noon and I received my final dose of antibiotic just in time around 3pm.  At this point I really had to concentrate to make it through contractions but I could still joke around and smile in between each one.  They checked me and I was astonished to find out I was 9cm.  I was feeling way too good to be that far along, things were much more intense at 9cm with my other babies.  Nevertheless, it was game time.  After a few pushes, out came our sweet little Hazel at 3:51pm.

H weighed 6 lb 12 oz, and was 19 inches long.

H cried a lot for the first hour of her life.  We were a little nervous about it, but thankfully she was much happier after being swaddled and eating.

I love when my big kids get to meet their new siblings.  It's so fun to see what they think and each of  their reactions.

They each took turns holding their baby sister.  W  loved holding her for a little while, soon after he was ready to explore the hospital room.

Hazel's first bath.  She was not a fan. :)

Eleanor has been the best little mama to H.  She pays her the most attention, checking on her ever 5 minutes, singing her cute little lullabies, choosing out her outfits every day and doting on her every need.
